Baldy View ROP will be offering a Basic EKG course to students looking to enhance their medical training or to help prepare them for further advancement in the medical field.  It is required that the student have some exposure in the medical field or work in a medical setting prior to taking this course (EMT, LVN, CNA, Medical Assistant, firefighter, medical program student, etc.)  This course is an excellent way to also prepare students for advancement in their medical training and prepare them for more advanced medical training programs (paramedic school, nursing program, LVN, etc.)  This is a two day course and attendance is mandatory to earn a Basic EKG Interpretation course completion certificate.

Cost: $ 175.00
(Pre-registration payment is due at our office prior to the start of the class.  Last day to register by mail or in person will be May 22nd, 2008, by 4:00pm.  Receipts will be provided)

Registration Requirements:
Students must register at least one week prior to the first day of the class (see deadline date above) by contacting Chuck Fedak, EMT Program Director.  When registering for this course, please print the EKG registration form at the bottom of this page and send it or bring it in with your payment.
 
A minimum of 10 students is required to conduct the class or it will be rescheduled.  The instructor reserves the right to cancel the class if the minumum student count is not met one week prior to the class start date.
 
Baldy View ROP's Basic EKG course is comprised of the following content:
  • Sinus Rhythm and Disturbances
  • Atrial Arrhythmias
  • A-V Junctional Arrhythmias
  • Ventricular Arrhythmias
  • Conduction Disturbances (Heart Blocks)

This class will be presented with powerpoints and will utilize Gail Walraven's: Basic Arrhythmias 6th edition textbook.  Students will practice interpreting numerous EKG strips throughout the class to ensure their competancy in understanding basic EKG interpretation.  Students will recieve their textbook and handouts on the first day of class,

Course Completion
 
At the completion of the course the student will receive a Basic EKG course completion certificate and 14.0 hours of continuing education.

This course has been approved for 14.0 hours of EMT Continuing Education training by ICEMA (San Bernardino County EMS Agency) in San Bernardino, California.  Continuing Education provider #62-0371.  This is INSTRUCTOR BASED continuing education.  Continuing education certificates must be retrained by the EMT for a period of (4) years.
